This afternoon I went to Walgreens to take advantage of the $5/$20 coupon. I shared four possible transactions with you last night, and today I did two transactions. My total OOP was $10.97 because I used a $20.00 gift card that I got from customer service for the run-in with the store-from-hell. That's not too bad because my merchandise total was $51.52, and I'll be getting $18.47 back from rebates, or $20.46 if the LylSyl (#46) rebate reappears. Here are the details on my two transactions:
Transaction #1
Buy 1 L'Oreal cleanser 8oz: $6.99
Buy 1 Extreme Energy 6-Hour Shot: $3.99
Buy 1 LypSyl Moisturizer Honey Berry: $2.99
Buy 1 Rimmel Lasting Finish Mineral Enriched Foundation: $7.49
Buy 1 Oral-B CrossAction Toothbrush: $4.49
Subtotal: $25.95
Use $1/1 L'Oreal Cleanser coupon (-$1.00)
Use $1/1 Lypsyl coupon (-$1.00)
Use $1/1 Rimmel coupon (-$1.00)
Use $0.75/1 Oral-B coupon (-$0.75)
Use $2 RR (-$2.00)
Total after manufacturer's coupons: $20.20
Use $5/$20 Walgreens coupon (-$5.00)
Grand Total: $15.20 + $1.24 tax = $16.44 (from giftcard)
Rebates: $18.47 (#1 - 3), or $20.46 (if #46 comes back)
RRs returned: $4.50 from Oral B
Transaction #2
Buy 1 PediPaws: $19.99
Buy 2 Quaker Oats (B1G1): $2.79
Subtotal: $22.78
Use $4.50 Oral B RR (-$4.50)
Total after coupons: $18.28
Use $5/$20 Walgreens coupon (-$5.00)
Grand Total: $13.28 + $1.25 tax = $14.53 ($3.56 from giftcard, $10.97 OOP)
Things didn't go exactly according to my plan. The L'Oreal cleanser was a dollar cheaper, but the LypSyl was a dollar more expensive, so it cancels out quite nicely. In transaction #2, I know that my total after coupons is not $20, but I didn't even notice until I got home and I really don't know why it still went through. Maybe because it was a RR? I have no idea. I also goofed up because I left my $0.50/1 Quaker Oats coupon at home, but I'm not too concerned about it. I still got a pretty good deal.
My total savings for this Walgreens trip was $40.55 ($51.52 merchandise total - $10.97 OOP), so for my personal charity challenge I will be donating 10%, or $4.05. This donation can either be monetary or merchandise. This is really not an issue, because I already have a nice little baggie put together for the USO that includes a couple of Pert Plus and Sauve shampoos and the Extreme Energy drink from above. That's roughly around $10 of stuff, so I just want to re-emphasis that donating a portion of your savings is not taxing at all.
As far as the PediPaws go, we will be trying it out after dinner tonight, so time permitting I will be sure to share my opinions on it!
