Like I mentioned on Wednesday, I'm really falling behind on my CVSing. I've never posted a CVS review for the week on Friday before! Anyway, what you see above is my haul for CVS this week. I ended up having to go to two stores, but that's okay because I was heading that way anyway.
I just like to avoid the other store whenever possible because they're so unreasonable about coupons. One time I was told I couldn't use my ECBs with my $/$$ coupon because the $/$$ said something like "not valid with other coupons". This time the manager spent about 5 minutes staring at my B1G1 coupon. And that store never adjusts ECBs down. Add on the fact that they're in a rough part of town and I just like to steer clear whenever possible.
Anyway, here's the transaction breakdown:
Transaction #1 at the wonderful store
Buy 1 Colgate Total Advanced Toothpaste: $3.49
Buy 5 Propel waters ($1.00 each): $5.00
Subtotal: $8.49
Use $1.50/1 Colgate coupon (-$1.50)
Use 2 $1/2 CVS Propel coupons (-$2.00)
Grand Total: $4.99 (use $4.98 ECB)
OOP expense: $0.01 + $0.28 tax = $0.29 (on CVS giftcard)
ECBs returned: $2.00 (Colgate) + $3.00 (Propel) = $5.00
I would have gotten everything there but they were out of the Swiffer Starter Kit. In retrospect, I should have picked up 2 Nature's Bounty Fish Oils, but I passed them over thinking that the other store would have all 4. Oops.
Transaction #2 at the icky store
Buy 1 Swiffer Sweeper Starter Kit: $7.99
Buy 1 Swiffer Dusters Starter Kit: $6.99
Buy 3 Nature's Bounty Fish Oils ($7.19 each): $21.57
Buy 1 Nature's Bounty Potassium Vitamins: $4.49
Subtotal: $41.04
B1G1 CVS free promotion (-$4.49 + -$7.19 = -$11.68)
Use B1G1 Swiffer coupon (-$6.99)
Use $1/1 Swiffer coupon (-$1.00)
Use 4 $2/1 Nature's Bounty printable (-$8.00)
Grand Total: $13.37 (use $5.00 + $5.79 + $2.00 ECB)
OOP expense: $0.58 + $0.43 tax = $1.10 (on CVS giftcard)
ECBs returned: $4.00 (Nature's Bounty) + $5.00 (Swiffer) = $11.00
Merchandise total: $49.53
OOP expense: Nothing! ($1.39 on CVS giftcard)
Total savings: $47.61
Total Charity Pot contribution: $4.76 (to date: $10.52)
ECBs used: $17.77
ECBs returned: $16.00
The Nature's Bounty deal didn't work out quite as I planned, but fish oil is a necessity in this house for the dogs, and it comes out to $2.38 after coupons and ECBs for 3 bottles of fish oil and a bottle of Potassium to donate, so I'm not stressing too much about it. Granted, I wish I'd gotten a set of fish oils at the first CVS so I would have ended up with 4 bottles of fish oil for $2.38, but it's not a big deal.
I noticed a couple of surprises in the ECB Offers review at the end of the receipt. Colgate turns up twice - once as "Colgate, Buy 1 get 2 ECB" and once as "Colgate Total, Buy 1 get 2 ECB". As far as I can tell, it didn't print twice. The "Colgate" one has a limit of 3. The "Colgate Total" one has a limit of 2. I wonder if the "Colgate" is a monthly deal...
The Nature's Bounty deal is apparently a limit of 6, instead of the advertised 4. If I had a third computer I would go and get more fish oil, but then again we're pretty set on fish oil for a bit. Today's the last day of the online 25% off sale, so I better get my act together and get Chip his Cosequin!
