Declutter Challenge Day 11: Downstairs guest bathroom

Today I tackled the guest bathroom that is located off the kitchen. This is also where we now store our linens. I needed something to fill up the space between the sink and toilet, so this was perfect. It's kind of a long walk, considering there is no shower or bath in this bathroom, so the only location of use for these linens is upstairs, but we only have overnight guests once a year or so, and they are normally parents who want to do everything for themselves anyway.

I ended up using a $20 garage shelving unit that was damaged in the move to store the linens. The moving company put two holes in the shelves, but it's still usable. They're going to comp us for it, but that doesn't mean I've got to throw it out. I got this while I was a freshmen in college to store things in my dorm room, and it has traveled with me to all our different locations. It's been on a dresser, in the garage, in the living room, in the puppy room, and now it's in the bathroom.

It was originally 4 shelves high, but it made the bathroom look too crowded so I took off the top shelf. I lined it with some old fabric scraps I had so I didn't have to buy shelf liners, and I used an old curtain as a cover to hide the bottom two shelves stuffed with towels. On the top I put a few decorations, including my husband's turtle collection. The final cost is absolutely NOTHING and a very nice looking storage unit.

Tomorrow I'm tackling the upstairs freebie dumping ground supply closet...so stayed tuned for more decluttering fun!
