Aloha Friday

Oi vey it's getting cold around here. We're originally Southern California people, so this cold weather thing does NOT sit well with us at all. So, here's my Aloha Friday question for you all:

How do you deal with cold weather?

Any and all tips on how to survive in an area where the weather drops below 70º is welcomed. Any words on wisdom on how to deal with that white cold stuff that falls from the sky (read: snow) will also be much appreciated.

We build lots of fires! I'm not a fan of cold weather but then again I'm in TX so we are big babies when it gets in the 40s-50s. lol

Actually, I love cold weather coz we barely experience it here, in the Philippines, and coming from a temperate country, December climate is a big treat to all of us here. Aloha Friday!

hot drinks and enjoying a winter hobby like skiing helps. Also fun winter clothes like fur boots and down vests make me love winter but I am always ready for spring!

Layers of clothing is a must and warm boots (if your feet get cold you are doomed). We have lots of different warmer weather options. In addition to this a lot of blankets to stay warm (heating costs too much), great cozy slippers/socks, and warm drinks. Of course if you can stay in on days when there is ice/snow it is great, but that is not a reality.

Today we are getting to 62 degrees and most of next week it will struggle to hit in the 30s, so I feel your pain. Stay warm!

I don't "enjoy" cold weather, but I like all the things that go with it. I love the fashion, hot chocolate, wool socks and big blankets!

I also whine and try not to go out into much but we live in Wisconsin so that is impossible, lol. I also drink lots of hot chocolate.

Generally, I curl up in a ball and cry. LOL! I HATE cold weather. Fortunately it doesn't get too old here in New Orleans!

I'm with you! If it gets below 70 I'm freezing! My suggestion.... LOTS of layers!

I have moved from Texas to Washington and I haven't learned how to deal with the climate change either

Just dress as warmly as possible!

Right now I remind myself that at least it isn't snowing-ha, but when it does, I just bundle up good and grin and bear it.
Just trying to keep the thermostat down for now, especially at night.
Lots of blankets.:)

Lots of layers on the cloths to handle the chilly house. I wish I had a fire place to cozy up to also. That really makes it better.

I stay inside where it is warm and wrap myself in blankets and sweatsuits. I also tend to drink a lot of hot chocolate and eat soup. I hate the cold weather.

Stay inside as much as possible, dress warmly-in layers. Lots of blankets on the bed, and extras for sitting on the couch. Warm slipper socks are a must! Keep tea bags, coffee, and/or hot cocoa mix stocked at all times. LOL

I really dislike cold weather...I'm a Navy brat, raised in Hawaii, California, and Florida before my dad retired to Missouri of all places. Ugh! No, you don't get used to it, or at least I haven't. My hubby is from Arizona and we live in NW Missouri, so we complain a lot together. Always helps to complain, right? ; )

I have the complaining, whining, and crying thing DOWN. No trouble with that =P.

We've been cranking up the thermostat in the house - good thing we don't pay utilities here.

Thanks for the suggestions on keeping warm drinks stocked in the house - will definitely check out my stockpile and restock accordingly before it gets too cold to leave the house.

We're hoping to move in January, so hopefully we'll get out before the worst of the storms hit. Apparently they had a record-breaking winter here last year...

Try some Hot apple cider with a splash of Hot Damn cinnamon - it is so good to make this and curl up with a blanket on the couch for a good movie or a book.

I live way up in Alberta, Canada, where we have about 7 months of winter! You do get used to it - or at least used to dealing with it... You definitely have to dress properly and in layers. My biggest advice on clothing is this - make sure it is close-fitting. Baggy sweatshirts and sweatpants, oversize coats are actually not a good idea! You need to keep the body heat close to the skin! Also, eat lots of carbs before going out into the cold - it helps your body stay warmer. And then, just grin and bear it! You need A LOT of that!

i'm from southern california, too, but moved here to colorado 18 years ago.

invest in warm outer wear such as a heavy coat, gloves, and snow boots. besides that, it's really in one's attitude. i say embrace the cold and snow as much as you can. find the blessing in it.

for me, having four separate seasons has made me come to appreciate each and every one of them when they come.

I don't do to well with cold weather. I get cold very easy and the winter is the worst.
Ah, well.
