For the first time in probably a month, my CVS run went exactly according to plan. I'm not so much of a perfectionist that my total has to match up exactly, but the last couple of trips were just a mess and I wanted a simple run where things went more or less according to plan. We went at night after my husband got home, so he stayed in the car with the baby and I was able to walk into a CVS with both hands free for the first time in 4 months. Those 15 minutes were the best of my week, I dare say.
Things nearly went so horribly wrong when I saw that they had no Excedrin on the shelves. Zip. Nada. But as I was freaking out, I found some stray 20cts on an endcap. Disaster avoided. Then I nearly had a small heart attack when I realized that the Aleve had to be purchased at the pharmacy counter, because my CVS pharmacy uses the register by the drive-thru window only, meaning I could not keep track of prices and coupons as they ran up. Things worked out fine though, because my total came out to be $0.23 + $0.24 tax. Here is the complete breakdown:
Buy 1 Aleve: $3.99
Buy 1 Excedrin: $3.99
Buy 1 Just for Men Hair Color: $7.99
Buy 2 Pert Plus(2/$5): $5.00
Buy 1 magnetic clip: $0.25 (it was a back-to-school supply with 50% off, and I needed something similar for my desk, so I got it so they wouldn't have to adjust the ECB down)
Subtotal: $21.22
Use $4/$20 card scanner coupon (-$4.00)
Use $1/1 Aleve printable (-$1.00)
Use $2/1 Excedrin printable (-$2.00)
Use $2/1 Just for Men printable (-$2.00)
Use 2 $2/1 Pert Plus coupon (-$4.00)
Grand Total: $8.22 (use $5.99 ECB & $2.00 ECB adjusted down)
OOP expense: $0.23 + $0.24 tax = $0.47
ECBs returned: $3.00 (Aleve) + $3.99 (Excedrin) + $2.00 (Just for Men) = $8.99
I sent out the full mail-in rebate for Just for Men today, so I will be getting $8.00 back soon, bringing up my return to $16.99. Not bad at all...!
