$5 Charity Challenge: Walgreens: 9/14 - 9/20

Just in case there were any doubts that my affection for CVS is wavering, I'm doing a $5 Charity Challenge at Walgreens this week as well. This is my first time doing Walgreens deals and scenarios, because I've decided to change my tune about Walgreens. They have some really deals, but the main reason I used to avoid Walgreens was because the deals generally require more OOP than CVS. However, I've decided that the deals are too great and tempting to pass up. The $30 in RR that I got from the Robitussin deal last week will also help with some of the OOP.

$5 Charity Challenge
Buy 1 Visine: $3.99
Buy 1 Colgate MaxFresh 6oz: $2.99
Buy 2 Bic Comfort 3 Advanced ($4.99 each): $9.98
Subtotal: $16.96
Use $2/1 Visine Walgreens EasySaver pg. 19 coupon (-$2.00)
Use $2/1 Colgate in-ad coupon (-$2.00)
Use 2 $1/1 Bic Walgreens EasySaver pg. 14 coupon (-$2.00)
Use $3/1 Visine coupon from All You (-$3.00)
Use $1/1 Colgate MaxFresh coupon (-$1.00)
Use 2 $1/1 Bic coupon (-$2.00)
Grand Total: $4.96 (use $5 Walgreens RR if they'll adjust it down, or just get a filler item)
OOP expense: tax

I will be paying for the above with a $5 RR from the Robitussin deal. There was a problem with a transaction, so they gave me two $5 RR instead of one $10 RR. Works for me.

This following transaction is not a $5 Charity Challenge transaction, but it was just too great of a deal to pass up. I'll have to pay OOP for it, since the RR won't print if I use another RR to pay for it.

Buy 1 Pantene Pro-V Beautiful Lengths Shampoo 12.6oz: $4.00
Buy 1 Pantene Pro-V Beautiful Lengths Condition 12.6oz: $4.00
Buy 1 Pantene Pro-V styling product: $4.00 (exclude Restoratives/Expressions)
Subtotal: $12.00
Use 1 FREE Panthene styling product with purchase of Pantene shampoo/conditioner (-$4.00)
Use 1 $1/2 Pantene product coupon (-$1.00)
Grand Total/OOP expense: $7.00
Get back $2 RR instantly and $5 from EasySaver Rebate (#11)

Be careful if you're going to take advantage of this deal - the EasySaver rebate is only for Beautiful Lengths shampoo and conditioner, while the sale is for any Pantene Pro-V Hair Care product (excluding Restoratives & Expressions). If you buy something other than the Beautiful Lengths shampoo and conditioner you won't get the $5 EasySaver rebate.

I have yet to submit my September EasySaver rebate, so I will be paying OOP for all of this. However, my current rebate total without the Pantene deal is $64.77 including the $5.89 gift card bonus. I spent roughly $40 for everything, so I'll be making around $25 in addition to getting everything for free.

CVS is a lot more direct and instant with their savings, while Walgreens is more of an investment. I get instant rewards when I shop at CVS in the form of ECBs that I can turn around and use on the very next transaction, but with Walgreens it's all about waiting for that EasySaver rebate check/gift card. However, I doubt CVS is going to be handing me a $65 giftcard for spending $40 anything soon, so I'm willing to give Walgreens a try.

I am now inspired to return to scouring the circulars again. I used to but it was so time consuming. I guess now it is easier because it is instant instead of having to mail in forms and waiting for things. I am picking up a Sunday paper tomorrow.
