Declutter challenge day 10: MASTER BEDROOM

This is more of a preview than an actual report, but today we are going to declutter the ENTIRE master bedroom. I have the free labor undivided attention of my husband today, so we are going to move some furniture around in our bedroom, and also get rid of the boxes. We should be done in a reasonable amount of time, so I also plan to tackle the boxes downstairs. These have all been presorted and are mainly books awaiting a bookcase, or scrapbooking items waiting for me to decide where I want them.

Unfortunately, a lot of the clutter around the house will simply have to wait until next week. We should know what our settlement amount is by Thursday, and next Saturday we are going to go furniture shopping at Ikea and will bring home a desk, bookcase, and entertainment center, which will then house a lot of things that are temporarily living in boxes right now. So unfortunately, the living room will have to wait until next Sunday to be decluttered.

So for the rest of the day, I will be off-line decluttering like crazy. Let me share the clutter that it is now:

This is what one wall of our living room looks like. 4 boxes are books, and the rest are scrapbooking items that I've decided will go in the entryway closet on my spare shelf.

Our messy bed, bedside table, dressers, and vanity. All these huge items will be playing musical chairs today so our room will LOOK decluttered. Actual decluttering is one thing, getting a place to LOOK decluttered is quite another.

This is one side of our bedroom, and I am TIRED of it being the first thing I see when I wake up each morning.

Same thing with this stuff. A lot of it actually belongs in this room...it just needs to be placed in a non clutter-inducing/looking spot.

This may have to be a project for tomorrow. This is my bedside table that used to be a sofa table. The movers did not unpack it before moving it, so a lot of items were displaced. And since the function of the piece has changed, I need to reorganize the contents as well.

Well, as you can see, we have our work cut out for us, so for the next 7 or 8 hours I will be busy sitting on the bed with the baby yelling orders moving furniture and making my bedroom retreat-worthy. Maybe I will have results photographs tonight when my husband is busy cooking dinner. Wish us luck!
