UPDATE: You can view my Wednesday shopping trip review here. Since I only made two trips out this week (Wednesday and today), there will not be a "week-in-review" post.
I apologize for my lack of commissary post last week, but things got a bit hectic towards the end of the week as we headed into our anniversary celebration. However, I do have to confess that I went over-budget by $12.88. This is mainly due to my OCD stocking up on sale items such as pasta and brownies. It's not a big deal though, because I was under budget by a total of $59.51 as of last month. But then my husband had to go shopping for ingredients for our anniversary dinner, and he spent a total of $70.84. See why he's not in charge of grocery shopping? Granted, $36.25 of that were wines that he used to cook with, but still...!
I'm not pleased about the crazy over-budgetting, but it's already been done and it was a special occasion, so I'm just going to stop fretting about it and save that much more in the future. Today my savings rang in at $8.90, or 21% of my total. Here is my shopping list:
Menu Items
1 can (10¾ oz) cream of mushroom soup: $0.50
1 lime: $0.39
1lb mozzarella cheese: $3.00
1½ lb beef stew cubes: $5.25
1½ lb pork tenderloin: $2.80
3 3oz pkg chicken flavor ramen noodle soup ($0.20 each): $0.60
1 pkg chicken breasts: $3.17
Total cost for week's menu: $15.71
Sale Items
1 Glade Wisp Flameless Refill: $2.00
3 Chex Cereal Bar ($1.75 each): $5.25
2 Gain detergent powder ($4.79 each): $9.58
1 Pillsbury cinnamon roll: $1.39
1 Ronzoni Smart Taste: $0.99
4 Giorgio Sliced mushrooms 4oz ($0.49 each): $1.96
3 VIP frozen veggies ($0.79 each): $2.37
3 Cream of Mushroom ($0.50 each): $1.50
Total stockpiling/misc. cost: $25.04
After coupons: $16.14

Use 3 Chex $1.50/1 mfg (-$4.50)
Use 2 Gain $1/1 mfg (-$2.00)
Use 1 Pillsbury $0.40/1 mfg (-$0.40)
Use 1 Ronzoni Smart Taste $1/1 mfg (-$1.00)
Total coupon savings: $8.90
It wasn't too shabby of a trip, and I'll definitely be hitting up the same sales next week since these sale prices are good until 10/22. I was looking forward to getting some College Inn Beef/Chicken broth for $0.25 but unfortunately they didn't have any. I wanted to get 10 of the Chex Cereal bars, but they only had 3 on the shelf and I hope that they restock so I can get them for a mere $0.25 each!
I didn't save too much at the commissary, so my Charity Pot increased only $0.89 to a grand total of $5.76. I'm starting to think about upping my percentage to 15% just because it's filling up so slowly!
